Bitcoin Price Watch; Riding The Volume Waves

We are closing in on the end of the European session in the bitcoin price and it’s time to put together a strategy that we can use in an attempt to draw a profit from the market on any volatility as and when it plays out tonight. In this morning’s analysis, we said that we were looking for an upside break to validate some degree of bullish momentum near term. We did get the break but have subsequently seen price weaken somewhat and we are heading into the session this evening from a slightly depressed position as compared to...

Bitcoin Price Watch; Keeping Between The Lines

We are closing in on the end of the day on Thursday in the European session and, for our bitcoin price analysis this evening, we are going to change things up a bit to try and incorporate the expense of overnight action as it plays out into tomorrow morning. Action today has been relatively strong, with bitcoin scoring fresh intraday highs and currently trading in and around the upper end of its intraday range. The hope is that sentiment will stay bullish and that, in turn, that today’s range will break to the upside. Of course, we’ve got to...

O Canada! Here’s Why This Just-Launched Blockchain ETF Isn’t Concerned About Weak Crypto Prices

Canada’s Harvest Portfolios Group Inc. just launched their Blockchain Technologies ETF despite weak market sentiment. When equities markets pull back and sentiment weakens, we often see companies that planned to conduct an initial public offering (IPO) delay their offering in favor of waiting for a recovery and an increased (or, perhaps more accurately, improved) market sentiment. Improved sentiment normally results in increased participation which, ultimately, translates to a higher IPO price and a higher market capitalization and funds raised for the company that’s seeking public backing. The same is true for fund launches, based on exactly the same concept....

The Chairman Of The CFTC Might Just Have Brought The Bitcoin Crash To An End

The CFTC Chairman just told the Senate Banking Committee he wants to respect the new generation in his approach to blockchain and crypto regulation. On January 6, 2018, the chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), J. Christopher Giancarlo, sat in front of the Senate Banking Committee and presented testimony on cryptocurrency and blockchain regulation. This is actually testimony that was published in written format yesterday (and that’s available here, for anyone that wants to take a look) but the real coverage is hitting press today and, in turn, the real impact that this hearing and testimony...

David Cohen Joins MeshBox, The Company That’s Building A Parallel Internet

Blockchain is touted as being the next revolution in the technology world and, over the last twelve months, we’ve seen a number of companies take the first steps towards executing on these expectations. MeshBox is one of those companies. Many reading might already be familiar with a company that’s closely affiliated with MeshBox – SmartMesh. For anyone that’s not, the company has developed a technology that facilitates mesh networking – a concept that allows multiple devices to act as nodes within a network and, in doing so, allows for the creation of a network that doesn’t rely on a central actor. Anyway, MeshBox is a company that has designed and is now building hardware that can integrate with the SmartMesh protocol. Specifically, MeshBox is a Development Platform for distributed applications. As SmartMesh puts it, if the Internet was conceived today, it would have been a P2P network that connects smartphones, and it would have been safer, cheaper, faster. With MeshBox, the concept goes one step further and connects the P2P smartphone nodes with a MeshBox hardware (which, as its name suggests, is a physical box that’s designed to connect to the SmartMesh network). The technology integrates with mobile Raiden technology, which affords the opportunity for lightning fast payments, and (as we’ll cover shortly) can help the technology overcome some of the issues associated with the current legacy internet framework...

Bitcoin Price Watch; Near Term Reprieve?

We are closing in on the end of the European session in the bitcoin price and things have been pretty interesting today. We started out the session this morning by noting that action was relatively weak (in the sense that price was falling, and falling fast) and that this was primarily driven by a concurrent weakening of sentiment. When things move like they have done recently, it can translate to a sort of downward spiral-type action that feeds itself – that is, price falling, people panicking, selling, price falling further because people are panic selling, etc. Once this happens,...

Bitcoin Price Watch; Consolidation, Breakout, Recovery

It’s Wednesday evening and we are closing in on the end of yet another rough session in the bitcoin price. We were hoping for some degree of reprieve during the session today, with price dipping to fresh weekly lows overnight last night and setting up as if we were in line for some consolidation. Unfortunately, things haven’t turned out that way and we wait yet again for the bitcoin price to bounce near term. Whether it will happen tonight remains to be seen. As mentioned, we will likely need to see some degree of consolidation heading into the US...

Here’s What The South Korean Regulations Mean For The Cryptocurrency Market

After much “will they or won’t they”, the South Korean government has finally implemented cryptocurrency trading regulations. What will that mean for the crypto market? Let’s find out. The big news in the cryptocurrency space today is that the long-awaited South Korean regulations have come into effect. This is a topic that made headlines earlier this month when rumors that the South Korean government would implement an outright ban on cryptocurrency hit the press. These rumors subsequently turned out to be false, but not before kicking off a strongly bearish trend in the price of bitcoin and much of...

Bitcoin Price Watch; Trading The Downside Action

So we are drawing to a close on yet another day of bitcoin trading and, unfortunately, it’s not been a great one from a price perspective. We said this morning that we were looking for some degree of sustainable long-term recovery and that an extended period of consolidation would provide the floor we were looking for. As it turns out, however, we haven’t got what we wanted. This doesn’t mean it won’t come – we’ve seen this sort of action weigh on price before – but it does mean that sentiment is decidedly weak. All we can do is...

Signal Trading Puts Bitto Ahead Of The Pack In The Crypto Exchange Space

As the cryptocurrency space has expanded into the mainstream over the last twelve months, the demands of the industry’s participants have increased. Many of the legacy services have had to improve on what they offer, faced with the threat of falling behind newer entrants and competitors in their respective corner of crypto. There’s perhaps no part of the cryptocurrency space that this is truer for than exchanges. Countless exchanges have fallen by the wayside for failing to keep up with competitors, lacking in things like quality, security of breadth of offering for their traders. One company, a next-generation exchange called Bitto, is currently raising capital as part of an initial coin offering (ICO) and once it hits the market, it’s going to force the current leaders in this space to step up or risk falling victim to the above-described client exodus. So what sets Bitto apart? The platform is an exchange first and foremost but it also offers a spectrum of satellite-type facilities to users, ranging from lending and borrowing to staking and margin trading. One of the satellite facilities that really sets it apart, however, is its signal trading service. For many newer traders, or even for experienced traders, the speed with which the crypto space moves combined with the vast array of tradable assets available can be daunting. These markets don’t move like some of the more...
